When life gives you lemons, throw them back. No one drinks that much lemonade.
The most predictable part of life is that life is unpredictable. The key to success in this crazy world can be boiled down to one iconic (fictional) discussion between father and son.
Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place, and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward; how much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now, if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain’t you. You’re better than that! (Quote is from the movie Rocky Balboa 2006)
This dialogue is pure genius.
To make the best out of a situation does make life happier, and a positive attitude will definitely get you ahead in the game. But to be in a position of true leadership means you must not live in reaction to what life gives you. To keep moving forward for however long it takes to get to the other side.
Everyone has challenges, its how you walk through them matters.
So the next time life attempts to derail you with lemons, throw them back and keep on keepin’ on.
Because one day you will look back and see all those lemons weren’t really that bad. And you would be disappointed if you let a little puckery fruit stop you when it didn’t have the power.
